According to an announcement from the CEO of AMC, support for Dogecoin and Shiba Inu meme tokens, which was scheduled for next week has been launched now early.
Exciting New Launch by AMC
AMC Theaters, USA’s largest movie theater chain now expands its payment options with the addition of two additional cryptocurrencies, formally adding $DOGE and $SHIBA Inu to its supported list via the existing partnership with BitPay. CEO of AMC, Adam Aron, made an announcement on social media platform, Twitter, congratulating his follower base of almost 250,000 about the early launch of the new two new cryptocurrency payment options for all related theaters.
Adam Aron showed much excitement in his tweet, stating that he understands this new developing trend towards popularity of cryptocurrencies, so as promised, the company has incorporated Dogecoin and Shiba Inu payment options for its customers.
From Winning Polls to Early Launch
Prior to this consideration, Aron had posted two voting polls on Twitter, asking followers about what more cryptocurrencies they would like to see support for, and to his surprise, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu were the cryptos that managed to win majority of the votes from the participants, taking 61.8% and 81.4% votes respectively.
This new launch might seem quite surprising for some, as the support for these two cryptos was scheduled to arrive next week, but AMC theaters managed to launch this new support a week early.
Existing Support
Taking a closer look into AMC theaters, the company has had support for many cryptocurrencies for the past years, via utilizing services of BitPay. According to the FAQ page of AMC Theater’s website, customers have the option to pay with cryptocurrencies such as, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin and several other popular options in the market.
BitPay’s Role
In addition, Adam Aron also thanked BitPay for their excellent services in making this new integration possible. BitPay has been quite a popular option for many firms to integrate cryptocurrency payment services into their arsenal.
Recently BitPay assisted Australian energy company called, 1st Energy to start the acceptance of cryptocurrency payments, that also included both of the popular meme tokens. BitPay has been existing in the market since 2011, adding support for many new cryptos in the past few years.
