BITMAIN Invests Half A Billion Dollars In Crypto-Mining And The Blockchain Data Processing Centers In Texas
Chinese mining giant Bitmain unveiled a plan to create a mining center and a blockchain data processing center in the US state of Texas next year. The new base will serve as a key point for the future development of Bitmain in North America.
The small town of Rockdale, home to about 5,700 citizens, will be home to Bitmain offices in the United States. The mining center in Rockdale will open on the basis of Alcoa, the aluminum smelter closed in 2014, supplied by a coal-fired power plant. The Chinese company has already started construction work, which should be completed in the third quarter of this year with the opening of facilities in early 2019.
Bitmain plans to invest $ 500 million over the next seven years and hire about 400 people during the first two years of the project. Bitmain will work with local schools and other educational institutions to provide training programs.
On the popular job search site Indeed, there are already jobs in the data center in Rockdele. Bitmain has opened the positions of the project manager and site manager of the data center with the location in Rockdale. In addition to Rockdale, Bitmain is looking for staff in Chandler (Arizona) and Malaga and Wenatchee (state of Washington). This indicates the big plans for Bitmain to expand into the US market.
The American base became the second international expansion for Bitmain in less than a month. In July, the company unveiled a plan of operations in Brazil.
