Russian Prime Minister Encourages Common Approach to Cryptocurrencies In EAEU
On 2 February, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at the forum in Almaty, that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries need to adopt a common approach to the fact, that national cryptocurrency model is not a right thing to implement.
The Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said there is a need to develop international conventions on cryptocurrencies. If not, the development will go in wrong direction and will look illegal. He encouraged EAEU members to synchronize efforts in this area.
“I would like to dispel the euphoria that currently reigns here and in other venues. It will be wrong to think that all of us, even the most developed countries, will be able to advance the digital agenda within a short period of time. The differences between the countries are too huge. Digital inequality is still big,” the Russian premier said.
The Russian premier thinks, that digital inequality is the “key moment”. As long as there is a digital inequality between the countries, it will be impossible to talk about universal digital agenda.
Almaty is hosting the forum Digital Agenda on February 2 in the Era of Globalization. The meeting aims to work out measures to develop the digital economies.
