UK Product Safety Controlled Test In Blockchain In Meat Manufacturing
UK Government’s product integrity regulator declared the first utilization of blockchain technique in the food sphere to achieve superior publicity across the food supply chain.
The Food Standards Agency or FSA mentioned it has effectively finished a pilot using blockchain technology in a cattle abattoir, whose work needs a lot of examination and sorting of results.
In the pilot using the allocated ledger technology, both FSA and the abattoir had authorization to gain data in part of all meat processed at the facility.
FSA designs a further pilot for July which will give permission to agricultural workers and farmers to address data about animals from their farm.
The bureau will then move to replicate this in other plants.
Head of Information Management Sian Thomas mentioned the agency intended that blockchain technology could add true value to a part of the food business, such as a meat processing plant. As well he mentioned, “Our approach has been to develop data standards with industry that will make theory reality….. I think there are great opportunities now for industry and government to work together to expand and develop this approach.”
