WATER PURIFIER FROM CHINA MOBILE WILL ALLOW USERS TO EARN TOKENS
Telecom giant China Mobile demonstrates the value of blockchain technologies in everyday life by introducing the IoT module and chip embedded in the water purifier, which will register and send data to manufacturers and suppliers for which users will receive tokens.
According to Xiao Yi, marketing manager of China Mobile IoT department, the device will be useful for consumers by the fact that they will be able to receive PWMC tokens instead of data that can be exchanged for filters for the cleaner and other goods, which became possible thanks to blockchain technologies.
Xiao stressed that the reward system provides motivation to use the product, which is so lacking in IoT products, while making blockchain technology is useful for households:
“Our goal is to attract those who are not part of the cryptocurrency or blockchain community, may have heard about the technology, but do not necessarily understand it. For mass application, we need to turn something seemingly professional into something completely ordinary.”
However, the “smart” water purifier is still far from becoming a product of mass production: now on JD.com it’s available for 200,000 yuan, about 30,000 dollars.
